Are japan and hong kong movies the same?

I bought the hong kong version of scream and the japanese version has the uncut versioni want to know if the versions released are the same

  1. the uncut version will have more  to it then the other version  


  2. Hmm.. well.. it seems in Japan there is one version with both director's cut and a theatrical release. If you only have the theatrical release, then yours is cut. However, I could not find any HK versions.

    According to imdb the runtime is 111 minutes for the R rated one, so if you have a version longer than that, it is probably the director's cut.

  3. I honestly don't know if there is a difference, but if my instinct tells me correctly I would have to say that they would be different.  Different countries, different religions, different languages, different standards: =different versions.

    Just as a film on american TV is edited for content, I have heard that different countries edit for content as well.
