Question:

Are jobs hard to find in Ireland, and where are the best place to find them, city wise?

I'm from Canada, and hoping to live in Ireland for a few months next year, with a work visa.

I really want to learn about the country, and soak in it's essence. Any suggestions for good cities to find jobs?

Is Cork any good? I don't care what job, just something to help pay for the experience while I'm there.

Thanks!

  1. dublin would be the easiest to find work, its also more expensive than elsewhere in ireland so the wages tend to be higher to account for that. Lot going on esp music wise if you like seeing live shows. Cork would be prob be the next easiest to find work ....its a nice city , smaller than dublin but it has an airport as well, so handy if u plan on seeing other parts of europe. Flights are a lot cheaper to get around europe than they are to get around canada.

Galway is a nice student city..its in the west, which has some of the best scenery in ireland.

Have a look at www.irishjobs.ie and www.recruitireland.com ..that might give you an idea to the kind of jobs you can find in the different cities

  2. As someone who is from Galway i know it actually is pretty hard to find job there especially a summer job. But i dunno about anywhere else!!

  3. most of the best paying jobs are in Dublin but as you are not looking for a full-time for the near future you should have no trouble finding work in most large cities and towns across the country.

may i recommend galway city, its a wonderful town with an amazing nightlife and some of irelands best scenery within an hours drive.  Plenty of jobs in galway too and accommodation is much much cheaper than in Dublin
