My mother in-law is a pre-k teacher in California. She does not have her BA or as I understand it even a teaching credential. She has 120 units. Can she move to Kindergarten as is or would she have to become credentialled

  2. No. All public school teachers need a credential to teach in CA. Many private schools also require a credential.

w/o a BA she's only qualified for something along the line of a tutor. w/a BA, passing the CBEST she can be asub teacher.. Emercency credentials are rare these days. If hired she'd have to get her credential withing 5yrs.

  3. kindergarten is part of the public school system.  All public school teachers need a degree.
