  1. Yes, great companion dog.  Wag their tails a lot.  Can brush everything off of a coffee table with one wag.  LOL  Grew up with Labs and they need lots of playtime and interaction with their humans as they love them unconditionally.  Smart, can learn quickly if you are patient and give them loads of love you will have a awesome dog.  They love to look at you in adoration and wait for their master's loving hand to pet them.

  2. Labradors are both friendly and useful working dog. Friendly demeanor, keen intelligence, loving and people oriented are a few of this lovable bred. You could check on this site to learn more about this angel like dog...

  3. These dogs are in the top 10 smartest dogs out of 96 dogs, but big for a house dog. my friend has one and does not like it in the house for it wags its tail and knocks drinks off the coffee table lol but great dogs but better for outside they are just big like a 10 year old kid but an animal. You can train these dogs to be good in the house but you can NOT train it to not wag its tail.

  4. They are very energetic dogs so you will need to make sure that they have plenty of space to run around in when they are not in your house, and make sure that you let them outside. My mom and dad had a brown lab and we loved her to death and she lived for a long time before she actually died of old age. They are beautiful dogs and great companions. My dad's dog loved to fetch, you could balance a bone on her nose (one of those treats) and she'd move her head so quick she'd catch it. She was very loving and was always there by your side to cheer you up. She was a great dog! They are also beautiful dogs. I'd say get one, either a black or chocolate one as I myself think that they are the prettiest, but yellow ones are very pretty as well. You'll have a great companion for a very long time.

  5. Very smart ,high energy dogs, will need lots of running & play time:)

  6. They are very smart, but they are EXTREMELY high energy and have a long puppyhood, not maturing until 3 yrs old at the earliest.  They need LOTS of regular exercise or they will be very rambunctious and destructive.

So as far as a house pet -- ALL dogs are *house* pets.... but they still need a certain amount of exercise to release pent-up energy.  Labs naturally have a lot of energy and will need *at least* an hour of daily activity.

  7. Labs, especially until they are at least 2, can be very, very energetic, so you will need to make sure you have a large yard that he can run around in, or you will have to amek time to exercise him every day.  They can also be very destructive, if not watched.  I strongly suggest, for the safety of your dog and to protect your personal property, that you crate train him.  On the other hand, labs are very smart, very loyal dogs, and make wonderful pets and companions.  My lab made me half-crazy for the 1st couple of years, but now she is the best dog I could have ever asked for.

  8. Absolutely!

Labradors are sometimes used as hunting dogs-- They are able to track and can learn many different commands.

They're also attention lovers. I have a black lab named Josie, and she's the family's baby. If people are in the house but nobody's in the same room as her, she'll seek us out. She's a very loyal dog and very playful.

On that note, labs do need a LOT of space to run about and burn off their energy unless you take them for walks multiple times a day. We have a huge back yard and sometimes she'll stay outside (she decides this herself, even if we try to call her back in) to run around, try to chase the squirrels on the fence, etc.

However, you have to train them early. Example: Josie sleeps on our couch now because, when she was a puppy, we found it too cute to stop her.
