I know there's a fee to camping, but is fishing (with license) and walking around available to the public?

  1. can you give us more information?

In parks run by the US Forest Service or Park service most of the time they run the campground or they allow someone else to run it under contract - if the pond or lake is within the park National forest you can fish they shouldn't be able to stop you.

Now if the park doesn't surrond the lake or pond then you can only access the area that is not on their property - private property is private property - if you are in a boat they can't stop you from fishing their part of the pond but once you touch shore or the bottom of the pond - it is their property...

Best way to find out would be from the people that would be enforcing the fishing laws - the game wardens - they are very approachable or you can usually go to their website and ask a question and the webmaster will forward it to the appropriate people - or you can get a phone # to call - but if you want accurate info be sure to know the name of the pond and the campground etc - be honest if you want an honest answer....

I also have written to the dept of fish and game - then when they respond you have something in writng....

    Hope it helps..

  2. It's all public access.. unless the lake is off in the middle of nowhere on private property

  3. In Vermont yes, lot of fishing access.

  4. usually the campground host is only there to to assist the public on the campground. In return they receive a free stay on their site. their job usually  consists of  giving the public direction and changing the toilet paper in the rest rooms and other similar small jobs. U.S. public area is public area also public lake.
