  1. Technically, The JD law degree in the US is a  doctorate.  However, in reality they are equivalent to the LLM of countries like the UK.

    Those with JD do not generally call themselves Doctorate.  Academically, they are considered a higher degree than the MS, MA or MBA.  They are considered lower degrees than other professional doctorates, like MD or DDS.

    All professional doctorates (including the JD, MD and DDS) are considered lower degrees than the PhD.
