Are leeks and green onions the same thing??

I'm really confused what leeks are, I'm seeing them pop up in recipes, and never have before. They look exactly like green onions. So I'm wondering if they are the same thing? Thank you in adance!

leeks are much bigger and they are not an onion like a green onion (green onion is the same thing as scallion)

Leeks have a squeekeir texture too.

A scallion is about the width of a pencil,

a leek is about the width of a broom handle or bigger...

They are the same family but totally different.

A spring onion is about the diametre of a pencil.

Baby Leeks are closer to 1"

Leeks 1¼" up.
