Are lefty batters better than righty batters???

I am a lefty and I rock. But I am so sick of people teasing that righty batters are better. EBYA softball all the way!!!!! thats for all those people in PA on the Navy Seals espacially you Kathrine G.

Well I wouldnt say that Grady Sizemore (Leftie) is a better hitter than Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano, Hanley Ramirez, David Wright, Manny Ramirez, and many more Righties

Not necessarily better but you guys have an advantage since most pitchers are right handed.  Plus the game of baseball has always favored lefties since it's begining.

yes it is better to bat lefty because you get a lot better jump out of the box

It depends on who's batting and who's pitching. You wouldn't want Emil Brown over Josh Hamilton, but you wouldn't want Jim Thome against a lefty over Ian Kinsler against a righty. And don't forget the switch hitter. On a roster, I'd have a variety of lefties, righties, and switch hitters.

If it seems that way its probably because they get to face opposite handed pitchers more often. Since their are more righty pitchers out there. And nearly all batters hit better against the opposite hand pitcher.

It's not that you are better, ti that batters are naturally better against the opposite handed pitcher, and there are more righty pitchers than left.

David Wright

He is right handed and should be batting 340 but is batting 290

why?

only reason is he is batting 348 against lefties and 268 vs. righties, so he dosn't look as good

lets look at a lefty batter

Ryan Ludwick, left batter

Batting 304

323 vs righties in 107 games and 268 vs lefties in 69 games, so he looks like he is good only cuz he is facing so many righties.

So its not that you rock its just basic statistics.

well lefties do get an advantage because they get more jump out of the box but righty are just as good i mean depending on if ur a good hitter but if u have speed then ........they are about the same but yes hitting left u do have advantage!

Natural lefty's are better!and im a righty lol

they are closer and they get the same comfot cause its there natural swing

but if yu were changed and were righty but coachs turned you lefty i think the pros and cons equal out if not more con. cause yu have to build all that strenght and get used to useing it.its like trying to hit for the first time all over again

heck our lefty hitter had the highest batting avg it was insanly high like high .600's!

you see the ball better than rightys b/c of the lefty righty match up so you naturally have an advantage

I wouldnt say better, although there are 2(*barry bonds if you count him) lefties in the top 3 of homeruns.    Lefties have the advantage of getting out of the box quicker, and also with the pithcers, as you can see in the major leagues there are a lot more righties than lefties, so the matchup goes to the lefty hitter when a righty is on the mound.

No. Lefties tend to have a much smoother swing, but it doesn't mean they are any better or worse. Don't worry about the teasing. They're probably saying it to get to you.
