Are locusts really going to be a problem this spring/summer in the MIdwest?

I HATE bugs...so Im wondering how long they will be in the area and what kind of disturbances (if any) they will bring??? Thanks!!

  1. This probably depends on where you are in the midwest.  I found one site that says Kentucky will have scattered periodic cicadas (locusts) of brood XIII which are 17-year locusts.

    Looks like you should search for "periodic cicada 2007" and your state.  I searched "periodic cicada 2007 Illinois" without the quotes.  Good luck.  We have terrible rounds of them now and then and they are very hard on the trees.
