Question:

Are long Tee's considered "normal" on the golf course?

This week I played golf and 2 of my friends used extremely long Tee's to tee off with. Does these long Tee's give one a bit more of an advantage or not. Should I (beginner/very bad golfer) also go and buy some or should I just stick with my normal short Tee's and learn to play golf the hard way?

  1. It depends on wich golf club you´re using. If you´re using a driver you should use big tee if you´re using like a 5 either no tee or a small one.

  2. yeah

  3. They are becoming out of vogue. I see fewer and fewer people using them.

I never liked long tees, 2.5” for me, teed so the middle of the ball is just below the crown of the driver. Every other club hit off the tee box is teed just a tiny bit to give a perfect lie, virtually off the deck. I suggest you do the same.

  4. The short answer depends on what kind of club you tee off with.  If you are using one of the big over sized drivers, then yes you should at least try them as that was the club they were designed to be used with.

  5. It really depends on your swing and your driver. If your driver has a low club face your not going to want to tee the ball high because your just going end up hitting under the ball and only get like 20 yards on your drive. But if you want to try it out go ahead.

  6. Try 'em!

Golf is all about whatever works for you. Try them at the driving range and see how you do. Next time you're golfing with your friends, see if they'll give you one to try for a hole or two.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident on the tee boxes is what you ought to use. I use longer tees with my driver, but carry short tees to use with my other clubs if I'm having a bad day with the #1.
