  1. No they arent poisonous though you might feel sick from the thought of eating them. Seeing as it crawled out of your peach it has most likely only eaten peach flesh so no harm will come to you.

  2. I'm not sure if they are or not, I don't think they are. But I sure do have a phobia about them.

  3. Maggots themselves don't contain any poison. But they squirm around garbage and rotting organisms.

You're two biggest concerns would be

    1) How much "bad peach" did you ingest? If it truly was a maggot, it wouldn't be there unless parts of the fruit was rotten.

    2) Where was this maggot wallowing before it got to your peach (likely it was born there)

You might experience some discomfort in your stomach for a short time. But I wouldn't say your life was in danger.

...and if you are ever able to tolerate peaches again, slice 'em up first!

  4. As with fleas and ticks, maggots can be a threat to household pets and livestock especially sheep. Flies reproduce rapidly in the summer months and maggots can come in large numbers, creating a maggot infestation and a high risk of myiasis in sheep and other animals. Humans are not immune to the feeding habits of maggots and can also contract myiasis. Interaction between humans and maggots usually occurs near garbage cans, dead animals, rotten food, and other breeding grounds for maggots. It may take 8–20 hours for maggots to grow.

A major problem also arises when maggots turn into flies and start the life cycle over again. Within a few generations the number of maggots exponentially grows and becomes a serious problem. Professionals can remove maggots or many over the counter bug sprays can be used to deter flies and maggots. Keeping trash in a sealed container and using a garbage disposal or freezing rotting leftovers until rubbish collection day helps prevent infestation.

It is not poisonous but it is deadly in different ways.

  5. no similar has happened to me but they are definetly not poisinous! so dont woory!

  6. Maggots, when ingested, MAY be poisonous, but, I don't think so, since hospitals often use them to remove dead flesh from live people..

the maggots will only eat the dead flesh, that's why they use them.

  7. if seeing a doctor would help you do then go!,but i would be asking the same question if they are harmfull if accidently eaten,i'd say if they were eaten unintentionally it would carry bacteria and make you sick, but you should be fine though

  8. they are fine to eat, they are a great source of protein, they taste better without the head  and if you have an infected cut let flies lay eggs in it, themaggots will eat the dead tissue just remember to clean thm \ALL out when you see blood agin.

  9. No they're not, but you may feel sick

  10. yes you have 13 hours before the poison runs though your veins....no i'm joking they are not poisonous
