  1. Mr USS Enterprise - I'd call the major newspapers ignorant and they certainly use quotes out of context. Tourists may have died after ingesting mushrooms and alcohol together but I doubt it was due to a physical reaction. Mushrooms are a strong hallucinogen ie they distort reality. Which many would agree I'm sure could be extremely dangerous when taken with alcohol in the centre of a major european city centre.

It is scary enough trying to cross the roads in Amsterdam when sober, with all the bikes, trams buses and cars to look out for!

I reckon you'd be safer taking them in the safety of your own home or hometown!

  2. doubt it but i wouldnt take  them through customs

  3. Not yet, but they keep talking about doing it (after several tourists had fatal experiences while on shrooms).

You can get them at smart shops.  Don't even think about bringing them home with you.

  4. It is no longer possible to buy dried shrooms in NL (due to endless bitching by surrounding EU-member states). However, *fresh* shrooms are available and sold by vendors at music festivals and in the so-called 'Smart Shops' throughout NL.

Buy as many fresh varieties (Mexican, Columban, Liberty Caps, Fly Agaric, whatever) as you require and then allow them to dry-out naturally for longer-term preservation.

Dried shrooms are not detectable by any dogs or electronic sniffer. Nor should they be! The active ingredients are a naturally-occuring substance which has been sort after by humans and animals since time immemorial.

Chk out the link below or an interesting, tongue-in-cheek, theory about Santa Claus, reindeer, etc.;-)

As far as I know, no-one has ever suffered long-lasting physical harm (and certainly no-one has perished) through consuming, naturally-occuring, mind-altering chemicals.

And I challenge anyone who attempts to promulgate falsehoods about 'several tourists dying'  to cite their scientifically-credible sources.

  5. Currently - only dried ones seem to be banned.

So you need to get fresh ones and dry them yourself if you want.

They are sold at ' Smartshops ' or sometimes ' grow shops '.

There is talk about a complete ban due to some tourists having fatal accidents after ingesting (too much) mushroom in combination with (too much) alcohol.

Police guesses this is due to inexperience and combining two substances.

So, the tip is : take it slow, better to take again later than take too much at once, and never combine with alcohol.

Also, consider going with friends, and take turns, so one can assist if things do get out of hand.

    @geoffas:

What " scientific " evidence would you want?

Normal people do not have access to autopsy reports.

Any other ' demand ' for proof, other than police reports in the newspaper is therefore useless, and even rather arrogant to claim ' it didn`t happen unless i see proof '.

It happened - but as i stated above, not due to ONE thing - but rather a combination of factors.

Claiming they are falsehoods? Can you prove it did NOT happen? Would you call the major newspapers liars?
