  1. And the rest of the question is---. define Martial arts- as Asian schools Wing Chun, Shorei-Ryu, Judo- and fighting style- as boxing or survival street fighting.  I'll say yes to get the answers rolling- Martial arts of classic schools developed to help survival of student.  They are proven to work at various levels and situations. Western style  boxing is also a martial art and in survival street fights has many good points

  2. A "Martial Art" is anything to do with warfare and/or fighting period.  A single martial art by it's self like say "jujitsu" is just as good as any, but in that remark so to are all "martial arts" on the planet.  There are no fight styles out side of the definition of a "martial art" even "street fighting" and boxing are both "martial arts" with that said I'm assuming that a good street fighter uses a science to his particular techniques he uses.  A "style is only a "style" as a sub-title within the "martial arts".  So when you ask, "Are martial arts the best kind of fighting style?" I assume you're young and haven't realized that all combat is a derivative of the word "Martial" and a art is just a syle within that context hence "Martial art" or to describe all arts at once we say "Martial arts".  Hope that helps.

  3. What do you mean fighting style ?

Sure if you study say Win Chung then that is the best Win Chung style but when you mean fighting it could mean anything. The best fighting style in the true sense surely has to be snipe rifle 500 yards away you will win with no risk or do you mean the person who can get the best arm bar in a cage ? If you look at MMA without a grouding in some sort of ground work you will not win but this is becuase you are governed by a set of rules to achive your tap out.

I have trained and competed in a number of martial arts and worked the doors or bars and clubs and the style I use in either is very different. If I am competing then the rules will decided my style. If I am working a door then the situation will decide it I am 250llb so if I need to move a sub 200llb guy my "stlye" will usually involve grabbing them pulling them close (often holding the throat) and moving them out of the club and dumping them on the pavement. If I feel that my strength and weight is not enough then my "style" will involve some sort of strike.

I think all  in all that the best style is the style that gets you results so out on the street no rules then you need to shut the brain down once this has happened then your "opponent" is no longer a threat, the usual and quickest way to do this is a strike to target H1 (head ha ha) or failing that a choke. How you strike is up to you but whichever way gets the KO is the best style.

The one thing that I dont ever want to do either on the door or in the street is go to ground as that makes me an easy target for any third parties, where as in the cage this can be a good "Style"

does that make sense or am I waffeling ?

  4. I agree there is no best, there is only a person who trains hard and has a tremendous work ethic.  This is the only way to make your martial arts work well in the cage.

  5. are you referring to other fighting styles as combat sports?

While martial arts are very good for self-defense and other aspects. They are not the best fighting styles, they all have some flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths.

  6. There isn't a best, but what do you mean by that? Except for street fighting, and using things like force, speed, and strength without skill, you don't have anything else other than martial arts to particularly work with. Boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, karate, tkd, bjj, jjj, judo? Pankration? They're all martial arts. lol

  7. martial arts = fighting styles. your question makes no sense rethink and ask again
