Sooo...like...I was reading my favorite band's guitarist's blog. Here's a quote:

"Fritch tells me matches aren't vegetarian. I never knew. I liked matches."

  1. according to wikipedia...

"The striking surface is composed of typically 25% powdered glass, 50% red phosphorus, 5% neutralizer, 4% carbon black and 16% binder; and the match head is typically composed of 45-55% potassium chlorate, with a little sulphur and starch, a neutralizer (ZnO or CaCO3), 20-40% of siliceous filler, diatomite and glue."

the only thing I can see is if the glue is made of animal parts, but it seems like that would vary by brand.

  2. no help... but is it afi's blog?

  3. They may not be vegetarian because of their purpose. Aside from lighting a candle they are used to light up the grill, or start any sort of fire in which meat is cooked. thus, not pro vegetarian.
