  1. Back in the 1960s they were THE top brand on the PGA tour, played by the likes of Nicklaus and many others.  They have fallen out of favor in more recent years, as they specialized in the forged blade type of iron and were not as proficient with the newer technology.  I don't know how many times the company has changed hands since then or who owns them and what their goals are.  I am confident they make a quality product, but most likely geared to a highly skilled player.  I own two sets of early 60s muscle backed blades and they are a proud possession of mine - although I gave up trying to hit them years ago.

  2. Nobody could fault you buying MacGregor, they are a decent brand with some history. 'Todays Golfer' magazine in the UK tested the MacGregor Mactec NVG driver and woods earlier this year and rated them very highly

  3. As far as better it would depend on what clubs. I say mcg irons are mid range. So tm or nike will have better irons. Mcg Is good in their woods. The fairways are beauties and the drivers are bruisers. It is all in personal preferance though. Never buy a club before you hit it. Never.

  4. there **** of course theres better makes
