Are meal replacement bars okay to replace a meal?

i really want to replace my dinner with a meal replacement bar.

i eat a very healthy lunch and dinner. is this okay?

  1. I would say they are "okay" at best. I am very health-conscious and find that you are hard-pressed to find one that isn't loaded in sugar. They are fine if you are on the run and need an easy meal. You'd be better off to find a something like a Lean Cuisine microwave dinner (you can find them with 200ish calories, which is about the same as many replacement bars). If you eat a 200-calorie Lean Cuisine you'll cut calories without sacrificing the satisfaction of a meal. This seems to work for me.


  2. Depends on the brand and type, but if you're referring to protein bars or bars that contain a lot of protein, then yes. However you should only replace one meal per day on a long term basis.

  3. Yes, only once meal replacement bar a day is good. As long as you eat healthy the other 2 meals like you said, its totally fine.

  4. Yeah, just make sure that it's not a "candy" health bar.  And eat a good breakfast.
