Are mechanics for construction tools open late for subcontractors?

Question

My boyfriend said he is going to be late tonight because he has to go get his tool fixed at a mechanic.

He told me that those mechanics that work for subcontractors tools stay open late. He said he is going get their at 7 (after work) and he doesn't know when it will finish...

He has no reason to lie but it just sounds wierd.

Is this true?

That would be very unusual; but, maybe he  is just out shopping for your  Valentine's Day  gift. THINK POSITIVE.
