I see sentiments like this or something resembling it in the Gender & Women’s Studies a lot.

I concede that boys are taught these things but I fail to see how this is a bad thing, However, if you do please by all means explain why.

  1. I have never tried to teach my sons to be strong and brave.  I spend most of my time trying to stop them killing each other.  I don't actually think you can teach someone to be strong and brave, i think you either are or you aren't.

  2. If Men were not genetically bred to be tough and brave. None of us would be on this link posting. Our Ancestors killed the Mega Fauna during the Last Ice Age and took the land from the Major Carnivorous Predators. Gone are the short faced Bear, Sabre Tooth Tigers, Dire Wolves, Bear Dogs etc. That was not luck nor an accident.

This aggressive instinct remains in those Nations who won Wars and who fought for resources. Again this is in our genes. That human culture continues to promote this reality. History is written by the Victors. Weaker Males are Slaves or the Dead.

Our emasculated Culture that sees War as a horrible consequence. Fail to realize that the Pax Romana, the Roman Peace was brought by the Roman Legions at the point of a Gladius. Also promoted Roman Law, citizenship, medicine, literature, architecture, science, and Human Freedom. One of the Roman Emperors was an African (Black).

The Gauls, Goths, Germanic Tribes, Huns, Avars spread war and pestilence. Civilization must be defended. We are in a clash of cultures. And Feminism and its belief is at the core of it. Moslems will not give in to it. The Birth rate of the West is imploding and the populace is shrinking. While Moslem

Rio has posted it is no big deal to live under Sharia Law. Just how ignorant and stupid is that of a Western Woman. Not to understand the implications of Islam and its ascendency.

Read the Hindu history. Hindu Kush means Hindu Slaughter.

Islam conquered Pakistan, Afghanistan, displacing a peaceful Buddhist culture. With an aggressive War like culture. The Mongols were defeated by the Moslems at the Battle of Samarkand in Central Asia. Christians fought the Moslems for 14 centuries.

The field of the Blackbirds in Kosovo is the location of the greatest mass martyrdom in Christian History. Where 77,000 Christian Men died saving the West from the Ottoman Turks. Including the Crown Prince of Serbia Lazar. Serbia was under Moslem domination for Centuries thereafter.

Moslems have not forgotten that defeat. The defeat in Vienna and end of the Ottoman Turk Army on September the 11th. Was the reason for the attack on the US on that date. As a reminder we have not forgotten. Al-Queda on its attack on the trains in Madrid Spain, referred to Spain as Andalusia. The Moorish Kingdom controlled by Islam. In effect saying to the West Spain is ours we want it back.

Moslem boys are taught to value honor, courage, strength and masculinity. While we drug ours into submission with Kiddie Cocaine (Ritalin) when they act too masculine. Our Women will not enjoy wearing Bhurkas. Already Moslems outnumber Jews in America. And they are openly practicing polygamy here breaking our Laws. Wake up Fools.

Courage, Honor, Strength are values taught to our Officers and Men in the Military and has been for fifty centuries of Western Civilization. Sadly most of our populace is ignorant of its own history.

  3. No, with either gender brave and strong are good things. But arrogance and being egotistical and hiding your emotions are bad. Telling your kid off for crying if he/she falls over, is bad. Encouraging them to get up and be proud of themselves is good.

  4. Teaching a child to be strong and brave is a good thing, but because it is traditionally boys that 'should' be that way and specifically not girls, it is technically sexist. Being taught to be loving and caring is also possitive, but it is traditionally girls that are taught to be that way. I believe all traits should be taught to all people.

Being taught only strength and bravery can translate in later life to be violence and a lack of fear of getting punched. Being taught only love and care can translate in later life to being too forgiving and easily used. I think these are the reasons why men are more likely to be seen as the violent s*x and women are seen as the s*x which is more likely to be abused. Teaching strength, love, bravery and care should make everyone well balanced and able to stand up for themselves when a relationship fails and able to love when there is no need for violence.

Edit: "If Men were not genetically bred to be tough and brave.." Humans are not bred, genetically or otherwise. Humans breed but if humans were 'bred', that would have to involve rape. I think you mean that men are generally naturally stronger since we have a naturally higher amount of muscle mass than a woman of equal height.

  5. Because testosterone makes men naturally aggressive so to tell a boy be brave or strong is overdoing it. They have a tendency to take dares from other boys that can get them killed and other such crazy things. It is very bad trust me. If they run from a fight or let their boss tell them what to do they are considered P)(%$ got it. Then they need to save face by being aggressive to someone else and that usually means either the friends, kids or the wife. It is a chain reaction of evil.

  6. Nothing wrong with being taught from from childhood to be strong and brave.  Just add more to the matrix, and make men, as well as women, more comprehensive people.

  7. i think it may have something to do with making females out to be weaker when its not always the case, i mean, why cant girls be taught to be brave?... sort of, i dunno, im just making this up as i write. But i was in church the other day, and the pastor said to the congregation "dont be a bunch of sissies, dont be a bunch of girls". and i thought, hmm.... he just insulted half the congregation in here. and they just laugh it off, i seriously felt like shouting "im a girl! im not a sissy!" or soemthing, just to shut him up. But yeah. I hope im considered brave. I did save a disgusting gross wriggling earthworm from desiccating the other day when a bunch of other girls were all squeamish about it. Brave?
