  1. sos so long

what you need is a dwarf hamster they are small cute cudely playfull and fluffy u can bath them though u have to by chinchilla sand toys u can use toilet tubes they will need a liitle house or somewere that they can hide in that is dark aswell and will need a wheel i advise getting a gish tank (10 gallon or bigger) because they love to borrow and with a cage sawdust will go everywhere dwarfs can be in groups or in pairs can be on own but not like to  2-4 is a nice amount there are mant colours and species winter whites are very nice or robovoski u would have to handle them every day for about 10-20 mins or they will start to nip every time u go to handle them you will also need chews to grind there teeth thats it to get u started hope this helps

  2. Well i guess it would be fun to have a mouse for a pet, but my friend use to have one, and they smelt a lot.

So if you can keep it from now smelling

    Then get one for sure!

  3. I have had many rodents and have found that teddybear and fancy hamsters are the best pets.  As for grooming, I think that pet stores now have a cloth that you can wipe the animal down with to help clean the rodent but as for baths, the fear is the they will drown or become sick from the cold afterwards.  The cages that work the best are one with tubes and different levels, make sure that it contains a wheel.  Toys that would be appropriate would be extra tubes, a house, chew sticks.  Gender and how many are up to you but I would start out with just one to ease you into how much care there is because you will need to clean the cage and more that one is just too hard at first.  The color is again upto you, just remember that it is not meant to be in a cage and allow it to roam around. They have a ball with a top and a stand that allows the animal to roam without really getting free, they also have playpins that are really nice to hold them in while cleaning the cage.  I would suggest that until the animal is use to you, when handling it use a thick winter glove so the animal can't bite your skin because that could cause you to drop it and then it will run because of fear.

  4. lol, I almost didn't check this question because it had so many answers, but as far as I can see, many are quite biased.  I'll get right down to business and list these in the order you asked...

    1.  Yes, mice are small, fun, playful and cute, if you want to be general.  To be a little less broad, they feel funny crawling aroundand exploring your body, their antics are crazy and they're great fun to watch.

    2.  You don't need to worry about grooming, mice take care of that themselves, and as long as you get two females and change their bedding often enough, you shouldn't have to worry about smell.

    3.  Toys...Well, anything works.  Toilet paper tubes are easy to get and safe for the mice to chew up, petstores all over sell toys specially made for mice and other small mammals which are fine.  Mine have a wheel, which I would say is a necessity, but make sure you get one with bars as opposed to a solid one unless you feel like scrubbing and peeling off hardened p**p and dried pee every other day.

    4.  The best cages, in my opinion, are glass tanks/aquariums, and though a bared cage gives greater ventilation and causes less stench build up, you also run the risk of easier escape.  I have my two females housed in a 20 gallon tank all to themselves, with a wire mesh top to provide air and completely prevent escape.

    5.  For gender, female is a must.  Males scent mark which is something you do not want to deal with, trust me.

    6.  I have two females, though I've heard of other people having more together...Just make sure they have enough room to run around in comfortably.

    7.  Color is really in the eye of the beholder, so aside from suggesting/requiring you don't buy from petco or petsmart, go wild.

    8.  Make sure you give your mice fresh food and water every day, and as for names...Well, I'm not feeling too creative right now, so how about Minnie and Daisy?

Have fun with your mice, and make sure you take good care of them!

EDIT:  Don't listen to the above poster, mice make excellent pets, and it's also humorous how they say rats are great pets, while they too are bred as snake food.

  5. Mice are excellent little pets!

    Grooming:

They are very clean and will groom themselves! You will only need to clean their cage and toys about once or twice a week.

    Toys:

Lots! Toilet rolls, cardboard boxes, tree branches, ropes, ladders, hammocks, egg cartons, and so on!

    Cages:

You could get wire cages or glass tanks. Avoid plastic because they can chew through it, and wood because it absorbs urine. The minimum size for a cage should have at least 2 square feet of floor space. Anything smaller than that is not suitable for ANY number of mice.

    Gender:

Females are generally more active and playful, and love to explore. Males are more laidback and calm. They are more likely to just sit in your lap and get a good stroke, whereas a female will be running up and down you.

    How many:

Females need to be in groups of at least 2, otherwise they can suffer emotional problems. The only exception to keeping a male by himself is if he fights when put with other males, and if you will give him lots of care attention as you will be his only friend.

    Colour:

Lab mice are usually albinos but you can get different coloured ones. Fancy mice are basically pet mice which are not white. They can come in many colours, like black, white, grey, sable, and the list goes on.

Good luck and have fun with your new pets!

  6. mice.....

well they do bite and can be very sneaky and fast.

if your looking for a nice social pet, i know you said no but......GET A RAT

most people think theyre mean and nasty but they are accually very kind, social, and extremly intelegent. way smarter than other rodents.  theyre also very clean animals.  rats are very close to dogs to, as you can teach them tricks, sit with them, play games with them, and they come when called.

i would also like to mention my rat coco is sitting on my shoulder right now l*****g me :]

and neither of my 2 rats have ever bitten me

hamsters are cool theyre only problem is maybe bitting and they can squeze themselves into and out of anything

    very much like mice

  8. only 1 thing...   WHY NOT RATS!!   are you affraid that they'll ruin your image or something. they are the most loving, playful, sweet, exciting, smart little animal that anyone can ever get. besides, a rat is EVERTHING  that you just described.

they dont take much care,  mine have never bit me they are the only little animal that doesnt stink,  and they are so fuzzy and clean. they are the cleanest animals in the world.  dont be affraid to get a rat.

    1)  hamsters and gerbils bite and are SO STUPID!!

    2)  bunnies are not very loving and their p**p stinks... too much work.

    3) mice r the same tings as rats except they arent as cuddly and smart.

Please just do a little info on rats, ul find so many cool things about them!!

  9. Im not sure about a normal mouse but if you can find some spiny mice you have to have them in pairs.   There really cool to have around.   If you get them as babies you can work with them  and they dont have an odor.  There really neat.

  10. Mice are extremely great pets!!! They are social, active, friendly, and cute! Mice clean themsleves, and if this is your first rodent pet, I suggest getting one. I also suggest getting a male mouse because female mice have a higher chance of getting tumors. For the cage, DO NOT have the flooring metal bars, as it will hurt the mouse's feet. DO NOT use wood chips for the bedding in the mouse's cage as this will hurt their feet, too. Use toilet paper or kleenex for their bed.

  11. I would recommend a dwarf hamster or a little mousy. i like dwarf hamsters better. i am ten years old. so they are very good with kids. they are both friendly, cute, active. my dwarf hamster rarely bites. i have a chinese dwarf hamster. here are some links to supplies i recommend and have:

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... this is chinchilla sand. it is good for bathing. dont get a small pet like a mouse or hamster wet!

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... this is the cage i have and my stepsister has it to. it is a good cage. dont get the crittertrail Z because the wheel always gets stuck.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... a good toy for a mouse or hamster are these run about balls. you can let them go free in them without worrying about loosing them.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... this is the mouse food you should buy. it is a good brand for food. it has all different kinds. some for hamsters and guinea pigs, gerbils, bunnies.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... here is the hamster food

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... this is bedding. i recommend it for mice and hamsters so they can hide in it.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... you should get a little hut like this. those little shapes that it shows on the side are things you put on it so they can chew on them. my hamster loves it.

it does not matter what gender you get. but at petsmart they only sell males. dontt ever buy a dwarf hamster and one year later put another in with him. they need to be bought from the same litter. always have a wheel for your dwarf hamster/mouse. dwarf hamsters love sunflower seeds, so dont run out!

  12. Mice are nice ,fun ,and cute pets but they escape a lot.You would need a glass or plastic cage.If it has bars like a bird cage then your mouse/mice could try sticking their heads in between the bars in attempt to escape and crush their skulls. They would need every thing a guinea pig needs.Do not put a male and female together ,they will multiple fast. You could get one at the pet store for one dollar.People sell the as live snake food.I hope this helps!

  13. nice do not make good pets, they are bred as snake food

rats are like mini dogs, and make great pets

    and hamsters are good
