  1. Microwave ovens use and produce voltages which can be instantly lethal.

    The metal inside the unit has sharp edges, and can cut you.

    If the oven door seal is damaged or misaligned, microwave energy can leak.

    The danger of microwave energy is that it can cause arcing, burns, or a fire.

    And if someone drops a microwave oven on you, that's a danger, but not likely.

    All kidding aside, microwave ovens do not produce radiation in the sense of "ionizing radiation", meaning they do not damage DNA or cause cancer.

    That is a misunderstanding at best and a myth at worst.

    Yet some people still cling to the conspiratorial belief that cooking with microwave ovens is somehow harmful.

    All they do is heat water molecules. Period.
