Are you guys worried about universal healthcare? Middle class already struggles with paying off the government every week. I know the rich people and the poor people aren't worried. So, are the middle class people worried? Why would anyone want a few beauracrats making the decision about healthcare for everyone? I do not understand. If I work hard to make a decent salary, do i not deserve the right to decide how to take care of my family? Why would I want to trust the government to take care of my family's healthcare needs. And for those that are pro-universal healthcare, do you REALLY trust these guys to take care of your family's healthcare needs?

  1. i  prefer to pay my way

if the government is involved, we will pay much  more

  2. I trust the government more to provide universal health care more than I trust the corporations that provide health care now.  Why would we want more of the same? Our health care system is abysmal.

McCain wants to give us all a tax rebate to buy our own insurance?  Most people will still be uninsured because they will use the money to pay bills and buy food.  He is so out of touch.

  3. I am sick and tired of a government that keeps telling what I need and how I have to take care of me and mine.  If that is what I wanted, I would elect my parents.

  4. Don't look now, but we don't have a presidential candidate suggesting universal coverage, and both have their ideas of how to increase access.

Personally, I think it's a fine idea to have universal coverage for basic services. It needn't be government-run, and it certainly shouldn't prohibit private insurance. After all, a substantial part of your insurance premium goes to pay for all those uninsured people who are still costing you money. The real trick here is in defining what "basic" coverage would be, and what would not be covered. It's too hot an issue for politicians to touch, so you're more or less safe for the next four years.

  5. You don't sound like you know what you're writing about. You don't  entrust your family's healthcare to bureaucrats with national healthcare. I think your question is just deceptive rhetoric.

  6. I'm not universal healthcare, per se...but you are allowing the government to make these decisions for you everyday, regardless.if you realize it or not...Republican or democrats...the healthcare industry needs to be reworked

  7. No one has proposed universal health care. What has been proposed is a single payer system where the Insurance companies and medical care providers will be regulated to stop the ridiculous skyrocketing cost of health care. The health care system in America is broken, something has to be done.

  8. no most are stupid and scared of fake WMDs

  9. Yes.  It will cost me a fortune, just like anyone else who works..

  10. If you have insurance, a few bureaucrats already make the decisions about your healthcare, and if you cost them too much they'll cancel you.

Smart folks know that those working for universal healthcare  are not interested in taking away your private insurance, but in creating a safety net for those who have nothing, or for those who are cut off by for-profit insurance companies.

We already end up paying for so many people's trips to the ER because they don't have coverage up front that could prevent illnesses from reaching the crisis level in many cases, and ultimately would turn out cheaper even if we covered everyone.

"An oz. of prevention is worth a lb. of cure."

Now how could anybody seriously disagree with what I wrote? I just wonder which part those thumbsdown disagree with?

  11. Not at all, America needs this an we will get it.

  12. Yes I am.  As a small business owner with 20 "teenager types" working for me some of the proposals really frighten me.  If I have to give them health insurance as part of their compensation I will have to lay off 5 or 6 to afford it.  It will make our work harder, our customers less happy and sales will probably decline.

On the other side I wait now when I see the doctor and take my "insured" dad in for his medical visits.  We wait, wait and wait and now we are going to add millions of uninsured people to the wait?

What we need is "MORE" health care services not more health care bureacracy.
