My friend's mom is buying my friend a ticket and she's a minor.. (14), are minors allowed to fly without a gaurdian? Would her mother need to be with her when my friend is presenting the ticket to the people who check them? Some info about this would be helpful! Thanks! :)

  1. I believe that all ailines take a person aged 12 as an adult as they pay for an adult ticket.

  2. Yes they are but the parents usually ask a guard to escort them and take them to a car or something. I flew when I was 8 years old alone to Los Angeles to visit my cousins all they did was take me onto the plane and also they took me straight to my cousin after the flight

  3. you can go to the website that your friend is flying on. most airlines have a section on minor flying alone.

  4. Depends on the airline.  They have various rules about the age limits for flying alone.  If the airline requires a "guardian" [a flight attendant] then the ticket will cost extra to cover that service.
