  1. No.  At least not in the area where I am at.  The cost to build and then to see the system pay for itself would be a very long time.  No farm would invest in this, in my option.

Wind turbines are bring built but it cooperation's, communities and power companies investing.  The electric produced is connected into the electric grid and power is sold to power companies.

  2. Not likely as the cost of enough turbines to make in impact would cut to deeply into farmers pockets.

  3. In america, most, if not all, farms of ANY type use the same old local electric company as other people and businesses do.

Most tractors and trucks are powered by diesel engines.

  4. No, I have heard of hog farms using methane gas to generate electricity to run their barns.  Also, I recently heard of a farmer who was interested in selling extra electricity to a hydro company that was generated in this way, but ultimately the power supplier wanted him to spend mega $$ to make it worth their while.  Needless to say, the idea didn't get off the ground, not the farmers fault but rather the electricity providers as they essentially have a monopoly they can do what they want.  Like most case like this, the best solutions are suppressed by industry players who have the real power to make a difference in the world, but care only for profits today never mind sustainability and protecting resources so that tomorrow won't suck.

  5. some of them

  6. It's somewhat common in Iowa and Minnesota. But, still, the majority of farmers even in those states do not use wind power.
