Are mohawks allowed?

at the school you or your child attends? not at my sons school. the reason i ask is cuz the news just had a story about an ohio boy that was sent home for having a mohawk and i thought so what. My son had one t the begining of the school year and had to get it shaved off and i still thought so what.

I think that it's a crock if ur not allowed to show your individuality through hairtsyles.

My school has no problem, although they've tried to persuade me to lose it unsuccessfully, lol.

I now have an electric lizard green mohawk, and I'm getting tiger stripes shaved into the side of my head, and they' even get dyed red and black.

yes they are allowed where i live. Im 12 and i had one but shaved it off later because it was growing out of shape

i work at an elementary and our school doesnt require uniforms but some kids wear them anyways its a uniform school but the rule isnt inforced and there's some kids here with mohawks

Not allowed here! I'm glad my son wanted one cause his friends had them, but since they aren't allowed I don't have to deal with him asking. :)

at the school where i work you can not have your hair cut in a mohawk but you can spike your longer hair into a mohawk as long as its not to tall.  it doesnt make scents but thats the rule

The bottom line is if you don't like the school's policies and rules, take your child to a different school. Why you'd want them in a mohawk and being laughed at by others for looking freakish though is beyond me.

They are definitely allowed where I live. I used to work for the county and saw it all of the time, elementary included. How can they tell you what hairstyle your child should have?

It's part of your body. You hair is a part of who you are. Some schools need real problems then they wouldn't be worried about a silly Mohawk.

I went to school with a guy you had a mohawk, my school made him comb it down because it was over a foot high!

The only big deal I can see about it is that it could cause a distraction.

It's allowed where i live, but i don't see many students with mohawks, but i've seen a few. Why don't you ask the school if it is allowed or not? An maybe the teacher actually abuses the student, and makes te mohawk as an excuse, or the teacher simply won't allow it in her classroom...
