Question:

Are more climatologist saying that the Earth is Cooling?

Prominent hurricane forecaster Dr. William M. Gray, a professor at Colorado State University, told the audience at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change on March 4 in New York that a natural cycle of ocean water temperatures related to the salinity (the amount of salt) in ocean water was responsible for some global warming that has taken place. However, he said that same cycle means a period of cooling would begin within 10 years.

“We should begin to see cooling coming on,” Gray said. “I’m willing to make a big financial bet on it. In 10 years, I expect the globe to be somewhat cooler than it is now, because this ocean effect will dominate over the human-induced CO2 effect and I believe the solar effect and the land-use effect. I think this is likely bigger.”

  1. Trust the data ...not consensus!

What does the evidence tell you?

    Fight the power! Jello.

  2. The "2500 of the top climatologists"  morey is referring to is actually a large variety of politicians, and scientists, most not even actual climatologists.  Why do people thing the IPCC is all climatologists?  Climatologists make up a small minority in the IPCC 2500.

Its funny how dana says things like " hes a meteorologist, not a climatologist.."  Do you know who makes up the IPCC?  Not climatologists, get your facts straight bud.

Any scientists is capable of having knowledge on this subject.  Why are people stuck with the thought they dont know anything because they dont have a degree in that field?  Im a science freak and I didnt go to college for any science major... although I did use all my electives on science classes.  I also happen to know how to read books.  Books contain a lot of knowledge.  Anyone is allowed to read them.

  3. Yes, because global warming isn't real.

The earth's climate has always gone in cycles.

This is a estimated climate chart from the past 400000 years.

We only have concrete evidence from he past few hundred years or so, which is not enough to make conclusions.  Based on the charts from the past 200 years or so, yes, the climate has steadily gone up.  So are we assuming in previous years the climate was lower? and lower? and lower? and.... then what?  The earth is BILLIONS of years old.  Not 200.  Just because the temperature has gone up in the past couple hundred years is not enough to conclude that it will continue rising and that this is not normal.  It IS normal. The climate goes in cycles.

Oh, and by the way, here's the past 20 years:

  4. Well, I do want the world to cool, but without hearing the talk I still beleive that the world is heating.

  5. Yes, it's gone up 300%.

    It's gone from 2 to 6.

There are still 2500 of the worlds top climatologists who say GW is unequivocal.

  6. Is this the same Dr. Gray with a total of 0 peer-reviewed journal articles on climatology?

Is this the same Dr. Gray that won't even respond to offers from real climate scientists to bet about his own predictions?

Is this the same Dr. Gray that called Dr. Hansen "ridiculous" in testimony before congress and then back-tracked saying "I don't know what he knows about the atmosphere"?

Is this the same Dr. Gray who's frequently boasted about "skills" at predicting hurricanes (the areas where he actually is supposed to have some expertise) are no more accurate than computing a 10 year average?

Is this the same Dr. Gray about which climate scientist Dr. Judith Curry (with well over 100 peer-reviewed climatology papers) said: "These are hurricane scientists who don’t know a lot about global climate."

Since he hasn't changed his view on global warming the correct answer to your question is "NO".

  7. No

  8. of course he's right. I've come to the conclusion that Dana1981 and Bob work for Al Gore

  9. More than what?  Zero?

Gray is a hurricane forecaster and meteorologist.  He's not a climatologist.

I doubt there is any climate scientist alive who would be willing to ignore the data and claim that the Earth is cooling.

I would absolutely love to take Gray's bet though.
