Are more people in US buying lottery tkts. out of desperation because of the whacky economy ?

I think so.  When people start getting desperate they will do anything and a huge amount of the population is starting to get desperate.  The problem is not the sub-prime home loans, the problem is paychecks have steadily decreased under this administration.
