  1. Seems that way.

  2. Until 9/11 I would have said no, but the way they cried for safety and would rather give up their own rights for government's promise of protection I would say yes.

  3. I wouldn't say MOST Americans are that way. But, definitely there are some out there that are thet way.

  4. Only if Obama wins the election.  If he wins, I'd make more money on welfare than I do owning three different businesses now.  If he wins, I'm going to close all of my businesses and I'm going to let the government pay for my living.

  5. Like a socialized government? It would be nice, but I'm not expecting that to ever happen.

  6. Of the hick breed, yes.

  7. That is their job.

I mean, yes, welfare is getting out of hand, but so are these bridges collapsing and roads deteriorating.

  8. all they do want.  Its wrong.

  9. I think Americans generally are complacent, which has caused them to be woefully uninformed.  Somehow, along the way, they got it in their heads that it is government's job to solve all of our problems.

So, now all we get is rhetoric and promises to solve any and all problems.  Too many people can't or won't absorb anything more than that.

I don't expect anything to change until more people start looking at their govenment differently and start asking what IS government's role.  That'd be a great national debate wouldn't it!

  10. Not the majority , but I would say 1 or 2 percent do...

  11. I don't think americans are complacent but we would like the gov't to take better care of us as a whole.  Providing reasonsably priced healthcare would be a plus that's for sure.

  12. No, they want the government to step aside and let the people make some decisions for once.

  13. Yup

  14. I agree that it does seem that way.

After experiencing the refugees from Louisiana after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita I witnessed tens of thousands of ungrateful people who wanted handouts forever (some are still thinking they should get them 3 years later) because they lost their meager posessions.

I am not one of those Americans, but as long as Herbert Hoover's chicken in every pot theory keeps coming around, welfare recipients will keep taking and taking from everyone.

There is no enitlement here.  You are an American.  This country was founded on strong backs and perseverence, not whiny butts with their hands open for anyone else's hard work.

Sad, isn't it, that this once proud country has come to this pathetic state?

I would much rather the Government stop mothering me, and let me live my life, provided I don't hurt anyone, and stop telling me what they believe is for my own good.

Less government means less taxes.  I'm all for that!

The government can do what they should do, take care of the country... The land, the properties, and the bridges, as was stated before...

Limited aid for people is good sometimes and necessary sometimes.... but I guarantee that if my home were to burn to the ground, FEMA would not come and put me up in a home for 1 1/2 years and give me free money to live on....or go to strip clubs with.

The healthcare can stay privatized as long as it is not stupidly over-priced.  Who ever heard of spending several hundred dollars for 30 little pills?  The drug companies, and the medical supply manufacturers are keeping healthcare out of people's reach.  With controls and limits, we can make the profit hungry groups tighten their belts... so the rest of us can take care of ourselves.

  15. Well, I would just say a certain percentage of americans expect their government to wait on them hand and foot.

I would definitely say americans are more complacent for other reasons.....like actually knowing that their president broke over 100 laws, sent our troops to die in a war that should have never been authorized and sent our country in an out of control, downward spiral crash.........and we just sit back and not say a f····· word about it.  It's amazing, a strange, weird breed of Americans that exists out there.

  16. I say that a lot of Americans are lazy and complacent.  Not all, but some.  Good old fashioned ingenuity and that capitalism mentality are definitely as prominent as they used to be.

  17. Maybe if the government did take care of them they may become complacent. The answer is no.
