  1. NO, most of them only play NTSC.  You can get dual format players, but I seldom see them in stores, only online.


  2. No! an in addition to not being able to play PAL format most DVDs are region encoded and DVD players are only supposed to play DVDs that are for the region that the player was made for. US players are region 1, so if you are trying to play a DVD for Europe (region 2) they won't work. Look for a region free player (many Chinese players are region free and play PAL and NTSC).
