  1. you are going to MEAT men and women?

anyway, I'm italian, and I think most of us are friendly and respectful, but I guess you'll find all kind of people, like anywhere else..we are not mean, who told you that? we just like to fool around a lot, and eat people..yes, we are cannibals!!! just kiddin'...

  2. Italy is very nice I have lived here for over 4 years. Some places you will find mean people but thats like anywhere in the world. Most like american because we tip really good and usually are nice to them except if we get overbearing and want everything like it is in the states. The big thing is that you have to remember you are not in the States and you have to respect their way of doing things and not want it done as it is done in the states.  They love child an example of this when we go out the staff of the place usually plays with our son. they take him for walks around the resturant. They love children more than anything.

  3. I've been in and out of Italy for years and can tell you that people bascially are the same everywhere you go. Life in the fast lane = in the big cities like Milan, Palermo, Naples and Rome many people don't have the time to be respectful and friendly but this is the same in Madrid, London, Paris, NYC & LA....

Are you going to meet men and women? WTH kind of question is this? You will if you want to.

  4. Are all Americans respectful and friendly?  Nope!  Some are ... some aren't.  There is absolutely no way to type-cast an entire country of people.  They vary just like anywhere else and you should expect to "meat" some very friendly people and some very rude people ... expect this wherever you travel!

  5. Ma bey in the small villages,or in quaint towns -but people are people every-where, the big fish eat the little fish, it's all about prestige, and power.

  6. Yes, we are very respectful and friendly, but remeber: non everybodi speaks english, so speak slowly.

Italians are very happy when they see that you try to speak italian. so:

    Good morning : buon giorno

    Hallo: ciao

    Please: per favore

    Thank you : grazie

    Where is: dove è

I am australian : io sono australiano

  7. ive been living in florence, italy since 2002 and to tell you the truth theres the good and the bad...from my personal experience ive gotten to notice the big difference between the italians from the north and the italians from the south.  its actually a huge difference, im not talking in just personality but also in the way they even speak to each other.

ill give you an example i went wiht my bf who is italian from florence, down south to sorrento for vacation. now my bf is the typical extreme 'fiorentino' he has like the heavy accent, he speaks and acts like how everyone else speaks in florence.  living there for so long, for me its normal. so we went to this restaurant there in sorrento and we were having a nice time, the waiter guy comes up and asks he kindly and gently if would like some ice in our water, my bf as he usually speaks replied 'no thanks' but in the tone of his voice it sounded so stern and almost rude and i remember seeing the waiter guys face and he looked a little offended and yet my bf had no intention what so ever to do that, he was in a regular good mood, it was just way of speaking and it was normal in florence,...but not there..not in the south..

it was there that i noticed the difference and it made more sense as how the myth always went, the more north you go, the more rude people become, the more south you go, the more pleasant people are.

another time i noticed the difference was when i went to rome wiht a friend.  it was a two day trip and during lunch as we were in a hurry we went to eat at this shappy little cheap 'restaurant'.  as we were being attended i kept noticing the waiters there were so 'normal' like you know, normal in the sense that your just having a regular happy go merry day, so i thought..odd..people in florence NEVER have a good day when it comes to attention in restaurants..later we went to this store to get a foto copy of a document we needed, when i asked the lady how much she said wiht a huge smile '15 cents', so i paid, got the paper and left, right as i turned aroudn she said jumpy and happy 'bye! have a good day!' and i turned aroudn and gave a little smile, i was NOT use to all this 'happy people'. in florence no one ever says 'goodbye have a good day' in such a spirited happy way. if they do in florence, they do it because they have to, not from the bottom of their heart like how you can see it so clearly in rome...

so anyways...those are my examples..hope you get the idea.

btw..in milan its twice as bad as florence..im not talking about everyone living there, im just talking in general of the people who attend tourists thats all.

    have a safe trip!

  8. Italy is absolutely a wonderful place to visit not only for the obvious reasons; history, scenery & food but it's people..they are friendly, warm and extremely hospitable....My family and I went there for 17 days and we visited Italy from the north to the south..One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen is Capri located on the Almafi coast (Island off of Southern Italy)..Pompeii was unique and intriguing....Rome a mix of the old and new (cobble stone streets, people eating al fresco (outdoors) and a wonderful energy all around)..Venice was magical (we stayed on an Island called Lido which was right out of a storybook)...the Vatican was wonderful, the Basilica was amazing and the grounds truly a remarkable accomplishment for it's time.... Fontana de Trevi will feel like a dream (you are walking down a narrow cobble stone street and the fountain is in the middle of a Piazza, truly magnificent)...Milan, metropolitan, trend setter and the opera house unbelievable..there is so much to see and do, two weeks was not enough...but one thing I can tell you everywhere we went we were treated with a warm and welcoming smile....

I recommend you do a little studying on their culture so you can learn a little about their customs, history, language and what they are passionate about (which is just about everything!)..

you will not regret for one minute visiting there, Italy has so much to offer and it's people are the primary example!...have fun and best of luck....
