Are motorcycles set at a 14.7:1 air to fuel ratio stock?

just wondering if motorcycles are set to maximize fuel economy stock?

if they aren't set to this, how can i set it to this?

NO! that figure is for optimum circumstances, some engines run better at different settings,under different conditions. unless you want to go a steady speed on a flat surface?There are a lot of variables in tuning an engine for a given task, ask 10 tuners and get 10 different answers.I left a link that explains it in simple terms,better then I ever could.but I would consult a good tuner who has a dynometer and knows how to use it. explain the type of riding you plan to do, and let them set it up.


  2. 14.7 is the ideal fuel ratio for water cooled engines, but not air cooled. Air cooled engines might need a ratio in the 13s. to keep them running cooler. A Dyno is the best  bet to obtain this.
