  1. The polluted air we breathing and the contaminated watter we drink can kill too. Do not worry, the benefits of using vitamins is much higher than not to. Of cause the fresh fruit and veg is better, but do you eat enough of it?

  2. I would always advise seeking professional advice before taking supplements as too much of a vitamin or mineral can be as harmful as too little.

The aim should always be to not need supplements but to get everything you need from your diet.

Why were you taking the supplements?

  3. Vitamins are safe   if you really need them  and  don´t overdose.   If you like to have supplements,  the newest and best  at this time  is Xango Juice,  made of mangosteen fruit.  It´s really changing the life of millions of people around the world.  If you don´t know it, please  find out about it at www.cristinadiaz.mymangosteen.com   you will find here everything about the fruit and the science behind it.  Also testimonials from consumers.  You have it know at U.K.

  4. Due to the poor diet of the average american and the improper farming of our land by large agrabusinesses, the average American does not get all the nutrition needed through the diet.

Ideally, we would all eat a diet rich in locally and responsibly grown organic veggies and whole grains, but most of us don't. So a multivitamin/mineral supplement is a good idea. It is not usually best to use prescription vitamins as most available by prescription are chemically synthesized. Most doctors only have one or two nutrition courses anyway and do not posess more than a rusimentary knowledge of diet and nutrition. They specialize in drugs and surgery.

It is best to get your vitamins at a health food store and to get vitamins that are made from actual foods rather than chemically synthesized. The food source vitamins are more expensive but they are more easily assimilated by the body.

the problem comes in when people take too much of a particular vitamin or mineral and it reaches toxic levels. You do not need to worry so much about the water soluble vitamins which are C and all of the B vitamins, any excess of these will just flush out of the body. The fat soluble vitamins: A, D, E, and K will build up if too much is taken and so will the minerals, if too much is taken over a perion of time they can reach toxic levels in the body.

A multivitamin taken as directed will not cause this danger, it is mainly a danger if you are taking chemically synthesized vitamins and if you are taking more than the recommended dose.

It is good to consult you doctor for blood testing to see if you are deficient in a particulat vitamin or mineral but then, unless your situation is extreme, take a natural viatmin rather than the presctiption.

Many years ago , I was diagnosed with severe anemia and given prescription iron pills and guided to take 6 per day. After 3 years taking these prescription pills, my condition was no better and my digestion was suffering the side effects of chemical iron pills.

Eventually, I went to my local health food store and decided to try supplementing my iron with a natural, green food supplement. not only did it help my anemia and not harm my digestion but after taking them for a year, I was never anemic again. It has been nearly 20 years and I no longer need an iron supplement.

  5. The reason why vitamins can kill people is because of the ingredients in them and that they are not in the right form for the body to use.

Some of the ingredients in vitamins are toxic but they are allowed to be there.  Some vitamins are in such a poor form the body can't use it.  Most minerals can not be used by the body because of the non absorb able form and they are to large to be used by cells.

This can cause a toxicity build up in the body.  The toxicity build up can cause serious problems.

this is why it is important to get a good liquid vitamin and mineral supplement that is easily used and absorbable by the body.  The specific one I use, is formulated with advanced technology to absorb quickly and be easily used by the cells.

  6. The best way to get your vitamin requirements is from diet rather than supplementation.

However where this is either difficult or impossible due to dietry restrictions etc supplementation may be indicated.

Taking too much of anything can be harmful and this also applies to vitamins. Vitamin supplements are best when sourced from food sources rather than non food.

I half agree with Dr Frank. For most people they are mostly not needed.

  7. This was not particularly new information, though it was a larger composite study. Broadly few people int the UK need any additional vitamins nor is there really any evidence that they gain from taking them. You can't really make use of levels above the RDA. Some vitamins are certainly toxic in excess, for example vitamin A to the eye and vitamin D to the kidney. These are both fat soluble vitamins which tend to accumulate in the body if taken in excess. Vitamin C often taken, for no good reason, nor with any proven scientific basis, in massive quantities, was suggested to INCREASE cancer risk in some studies.

The new study was unable to say why the death rate was increased, nor to pinpoint the causes of the excess deaths, it just demonstrated that they occurred. Many patients take additional vitamins because they are 'healthy', there is certainly no evidence of health gain. Others take them because they believe anti-oxidant vitamins reduce cancer risk. They do, but oddly only when they are taken in their natural form, as in your '5 a day', rather than as artificial tablets. The exact reasons for this are also unclear, but it is thought to be something to do with co-vitamins, present in the fruit and vegetables.

Overall most vitamins are a waste of both time and money for most people, and are known in excess to be at least potentially toxic.

  8. Vitamins are required by the body, most of which are obtained by eating sensible healthy food. However, some of us are in Need of an extra Boost for one reason or another. Your Body can absorb too much of ant type of Vitamin which is not a Good thing. The Vitamins I Have to take are prescribed by my Doctor, and taken as stated. I would not buy Vitamins over the Counter, and Never exceed the Stated Dose.

  9. A multivitamin from a reputable source cannot hurt you.  Make sure you follow the dosage on the label.  Fat soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A can be harmful in large doses, but the amount in a multivitamin is well within the beneficial range.

Beware that there are some who do not want the public to have access to health supplements because they cut into the profits of drug companies and health care providers.

  10. I don't believe that. They are coming up with sth different everyday. I still take mine & I am ok. I wouldn't believe everything I hear.
