My dog, Tucker, might have eaten some of a white mushroom growing in my backyard. We do not get mushrooms much only when it is really moist from rain ( I live in Las Vegas, so not often). I saw him in that generally area and he was chewing something. I am worried, b/c he was acting a bit weird. For example, not wanting to play ball, which he absolutely loves, and he didn't eat dinner the other night. It's been a few days and he seems a bit better, but I am still concerned for long term problems. Tucker is a rat terrier.

  1. It depends on what kind of mushroom it was and whether or not your dog is allergic  to mushrooms, you should take him to the vet if you feel that he is not acting right, there could be something seriously wrong with him.

  2. no, my dog keeps eating them too!

  3. White cap mushrooms are dangerous to dogs. (Used to live in Vegas so I know which ones you are talking about.) Go to lowes and find a good treatment for the mushroom growth or call a lawn care specialist out to come and take care of them.

Take your dog into the vet with one of the mushrooms so they know what they are dealing with.

  4. My Boxer did this same thing last summer. He would not eat for a few days and even puked! My opinion is try to not let them eat any type of mushroom. If you can/should not eat it, then your dog probably shouldnt eat it either! Good Luck.

  5. Depends on where you live. I know where I used to live as a child we got poisonous mushrooms growing in our yard. We always had to be careful to keep our Golden Retreiver away from them.
