Are my avocados going to seed or not?

I saved a few avocado seeds over a week and then (as I read how to do it) stuck toothpicks in the sides and have suspended them in water. It's been 2 weeks now though and nothing is sprouting. Will they not work because I didn't do it immediately, or might they still sprout? Anything else I can do?

Be patient.  If you followed the directions you read, most recommendations are that if the seed hasn't sprouted in two or three months you should give up and start another one.

Trust me, I have tried to germinate an avo many times and it's VERY difficult. They take time but sometimes they will just die and thats that. I suggest trying carrots.
