Question:

Are my blue gouramis spawning?

I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE blue gouramis and it said that when they turn a shade of blue on the uper part of their body that it indicates they are spawning...

what does that mean? like mating/breeding

plus the gouramis i have are in a 20 gallon tank and keep chasing each other=(

can you please describe what could be the case?

  1. Usually the water level in the tank has to be low, about 6 inches from bottom of tank. Gourami build bubble nests on the water's surface.

    If there is no nest, chances are they are just playing. The color change could be from just changing environments.


  2. My Gourami has been doing tha same thing also, the top fin has been turning blue.

    But it is all alone with a few male guppis so I think it might not be spawning.

  3. Gourami's usually spawns when the water level is about 6" from the bottom. They could just be playing.
