Are my elastics supposed to break so much?

so i got braces a few months ago and this is the 4th or 5th time ive broken one of those elastic things that go on your brackets. all im doing is eating, should they be breaking this often?

dont eat anything hard like pretzels for the first few months lol

take them off while you eat, its more comfortable!

and yes, ive broken quite a few pairs when i had my braces...dont worry about it they are free from your ortho so you dont have to pay for them.

sometimes it depends on how your ortho get to wear them...like sometimes the WAY i had to wear mine put sooo much pressure on those little tiny elastics (like they were seriously stretched) so sometimes just trying to get them on, id break them. or they would just randomly break on their own .

they also broke whenever i yawned with them on.

i noticed that some of the eastics they gave me were thinner and much much weaker than others...so thats also a factor!

the bracket holding the rubber band must be sharp at the edges. Go back to your orthodontist & get it filed.
