Question:

Are my fantail goldfish sick?

When I bought my two Calico fantail goldfish, both of them have one regular eye and on the other side, an eye that appears to be either very dark around the socket or possibly even missing. Is that a disease, or is it just an optical illusion due to their spotted coloring?

Also, do they need a bubbler, or is the filter enough to keep the water circulating and airy?

  1. No it isn't a disease.  It is just a color problem.  Nothing to worry about

Also no they don't need a bubbler.  It does nothing for the tank but look good.  It adds no dissolved oxygen to the tank and really doesn't circulate any water.

  2. its the color of a calico too much spots,  bubbler?  you mean an aerator?  aerator is needed when tank is too large and the filter drops water on one spot no rain bar an aerator could help specially when overstock.  If an aerator got no fucntion just mere decoration then all who sell fish in sidewalk die and you know the difference by oberve two bowls same size put the same size of goldfish watch the bowl without aerator the goldfish will keep on gasping.

Even koi pond gots lot of airpump and jets to create bubbles because of the size of the pond so many dead spots koi will be swimming in one spot if the water quality is bad near the waterfalls.

    kOi keeper & goldfish keeper.
