  1. Not neccesarily. As long as you feed them 2-3 times daily with just enough food for them to finish within 5 minutes, they should be fine. It's just part of guppy behavior to peck at the gravel, ornaments and glass. They like to eat the algae that gathers there and also, they've got to do something with all that time that they're spending in the aquarium :) As long as they're acting like normal, healthy fish (including the pecking), they should be fine.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Fish constantly look for food.  It's a part of evolution.  In the wild fish have to find their food.  Anything found is eaten right away because they don't know when they will get more.  I'm assuming you feed your guppies regularly so there's no need to offer them extra food.  They just don't realize that more will come.  The other answerers brought a point about guppies hunting and pecking between gravel bits in pursuit of algae.  This is probably true as well.  Just remember, more fish die from overfeeding than underfeeding.  A hungry fish is a happy fish!

  3. well just feed them once or twice a day if they dont eat is right away then they will if you walk away

  4. sometimes they will do that just to get the algae off the rocks but guppies are always hungry.  Just don't overfeed them.  depending on how many you have 2 pinches of flake food per day should be fine but mkae sure that they can consume it within a minute or so of dropping it.
