  1. your parents are older then mine but that doesnt mean they are old,  your parents are middle aged. What are you worried about? you want to hear about old, my husbands grandpa is 89...thats getting old, he just had Caddric surgery, and took his driving test for the dmv and they gave him a drivers license until hes 99 :)

  2. they're middle gaed! it's fine hon they likely have many more years to go

  3. Why don't you ask them if they feel old? Ha, ha.

Seriously, I don't think they're going to leave this world for a long time yet.  If I'm doing the math correctly, I was older when I gave birth to my last child than your mom was when she gave birth to you. My last is a teenager now. My kids think I'm old, but I don't feel that way!  I still run marathons, cross country ski at 20 below zero, drive 1000 miles on my own to visit my son, and fit into my high school prom dress.  I plan to be around for my grandchildren's graduations and weddings. My husband is also an athlete and takes care of himself.

Maybe your parents aren't marathoners, but why are you worried? If you have reason to be concerned about their health, see if you can get them to take up some healthy activities, change their diet, stop smoking (if they do that), etc.  Offer to go walk with them. Ask for more veggies and fruit with meals.

If all else fails, it's OK to ask the question that bothers every kid:  "What would happen to me if you both die?"   You have a right to know, and they most likely have a plan.  Most parents do.

  4. Honey, I am 44 and would be offended if anyone considered me "old."  I have a 4 and 6 year  old at home, work full time, and am active in all kinds of activites. I have survived thyroid cancer.   My parents are in their 60's and 70's and are in good health.  Don't worry so much!!

  5. 45 and 53 is still very young!  Dont worry about how "old" your parents are.  They should be the ones worrying about you!  Calm  down, slow down and enjoy, respect, and have fun with your parents while you have both of them, and they are still young enough to have fun!

  6. They aren't insanely old, and they aren't extremely young. Why are you worried? That would help us answer your question!

  7. Your parents are not that old.   You are very young & dont understand that people in their 40s& 50's feel great & are healthy. Unless one of your parents is sick I would say stop worrying.

Old is 80's 90's or 100's these days & even people of that age still play golf, have dinner with friends, play cards & enjoy life!!

when you are older (20's or 30's) you will meet someone wonderful & get married & have a family of your own - so stop worrying!!

  8. Ok i dont get the purpose of this question what do you mean what are you going to do?? You cant change there age. You need to accept the fact that parents get older its the course of life. besides they are not that old enjoy everyday like its the last. never take them for granted.

(example: My fiance is 35 and we just had a baby together he is 8mos he will be 53 when my son is 18 its normal)

  9. No, they are fine...my dad is almost 66 and very healthy! He walks every morning and exercises...age doesn't matter...my mom died when she was 35...you never know what will happen!

  10. I can feel you on this.  I spent a lot of time worrying about my parents, but honestly, it is what it is.  You can't make your dad younger by worrying about him.  My dad is 54 and I'm 28, so a bit different than your situation.  Honestly, 53 isn't that old.  I'm sure your dad will live a long, long time.  :)

  11. well that depends on how old you are. I am presuming you are 13 or older. But anyway,no 43 is not old or 53.

  12. No, that is not old. Don't worry the average life span is almost 80. They still each have 30 years AT LEAST left and I am sure they will live much longer (most people do).

  13. I'm 16 and my dad is 55 and my mom is 54. I know it can be a little scary to think that your parents are older and that they might not be around, but if they don't act "older" then I wouldn't worry about it. I worry about my parents sometimes too, but it's best to just know that you can depend on them now, and most likely in the future. :D

  14. Your parents are not chronologically old.

Is your dad in good health?  Is he active mentally and physically?

People are living longer, healthier lives these days. With the help of good nutrition and regular check-ups, there are many people who are well into their 80's, and are still going strong!

Tell your dad you are concerned about his health, if he is a smoker encourage him to quit smoking, and ask him to get a check up.

Part of being 12 years old can be a certain amount of anxiety due to increased adolescent hormonal activity. Try to relax.
