Are my parents overprotective or something? Or is it just me?

Ok, facts:

I'm 18, I've never been drunk, never done drugs, I don't smoke, I've never been in trouble with the police or anything like that... I'm on a special scholarship - which means that my grades always have to be in the top 3% of my generation.

Problem:

My parents don't let me go out - even if it's just to see a movie at 10pm on a Saturday - with friends (their parents promised to drive us all home). I've never been out past 10pm.

They don't let me stay home alone - even if they're just gone for half a day.

I can't go to any concerts.

They're making me go study law - because I'd have a better chance of getting a job in my country - when I really want to study languages... And I hate the idea of studying law.

It's impossible for me to get a date - because I always have to ask for permission and it's just plain awkward telling someone to wait for your decision because you have to go ask your parents at the age of 18...

What should I do? They're driving me nuts - and I can't have a normal conversation with them

  1. your 18 s***w them your a adult in canada... move out they are being rediculious

  2.   Parents in general are protective but **** that is crazy. I know they are just trying to guide you down a good path but they need to give you some space. My mother is a crack head and never cared, I never went  to school and never had any rules. Then when I was 17 my dad made me move in with him and just set up 10 million rules and made me do school work everyday all day.I freaked out and told him if he didn't give me some free time I was going to leave. He gave me room. Maybe if you feel ok with it, try talking with them. Tell them that all the stuff there doing is hurting you and you need time to yourself. That the stress and the constant rules are hurting you ability to do your work.
