Are my parents suffering from Empty Nest syndrome or something?

Recently My parents have moved both my brother and sister plus my sisters new born baby and boyfriend into their home. They are taking care of them, helping them with their bills, buying them groceries and even letting them drive my parents vehicles around to save gas in their own. ( Just for the record my parents are not rich, they are middle class and both have worked for all the have). This past month my mother and father have literally doubled their time at work so they can support their newly large household. My husband and I have two children and our own life, but I am watching my siblings literally break my parents. The jealous side of me wishes that someone would help us with our bills, but I could never do what they are doing. Has anyone else had an experience like this? As far as saying something to my parents the siblings have them tied are their fingers, maybe I have middle child syndrome.

  1. They are doing it simply because they love their kids. They don't want to see them suffer. If you went to them asking for help, I think they would work even harder to assist you and your family as well.

My kids have both moved back home until they get back on their feet. Although I may put off my retirement a few years, I would rather help them than see them end up living on the street.

My sister-in-law brought her father, daughter, daughter's husband and daughter's two kids into her small three bedroom home. Her father is too old to take care of himself and the kids were living in a bad neighborhood. She loves them and wants to give them all a better life. I look at her situation and am thankful for mine being comparatively simple.

Looking into your own future, if your children were in a bad way, you could probably see yourself opening your own home to help them and their families as well.
