Question:

Are my star notes worth keeping?

I have just started to collect Star Notes and US paper money. I'm wondering if it's worth it to keep the ones that have writing on them or in G, F, VF, or in just OK shape with folds/tears. There's others that have marker on the edges or stamp marks. Do you think I would make any profit what so ever if I tried to sell them? They are mostly $5-$20 bills from 1988*-2004A*, Then most of them have at least one or two Zeros at the beginning of the serial number.

  1. I'd hang on to them,it isn't like they take up to much space,of course i don't throw nothing away, god it looks like freaking Sandford and Son in my house,my lady triped over a car engine the other night, lol she was pissed,i told her i need help moving it gezz, she said THEN FIND HELP,AND CLEAN THIS DUMP UP!!!! Yeah yeah,i'm working on it.

  2. The star notes you have are too new for them to have too much value. I do not know your age but I have found that the old kind of ratty notes I bough in the 1960's are now worth something even in the grade of good. One thing about star notes is in the end the are scarce for the BEP is getting mush better at printing. I would say the star notes from series 1988 and up may be scarcer than maybe thought and only in the future will we know. If you can afford it save them. Not a note example, but I bought a real bad looking 1916-D dime back in 1960 for a few buck and was offered $400 for it last week. One never knows, so if one can afford it keep all.

Remember if they don't go up they are still spendable. Always try though to buy the best grade you can afford.
