Are names of Countries the same in all languages?

For instance, if I buy a globe or world map while I am in, say, Italy, will all the country names be in Italian or English? Are there even Italian "versions" of the names of Countries?

If I were in China, would the world maps use the chinese characters in the Country names?

  1. I know that in spanish, the US is Estados Unidos, or EEUU...that's really all I've got.

  2. They absolutely are NOT the same.  Italy in Italian is Italia; France in Italian is Francia; Germany in German is Deutchland.  It goes on and on.

Of course maps printed in China for the Chinese market would have the legends in Chinese.

  3. Names of countries change depending on the Language.

  4. Some countries change their names depending on the language, others keep the same

    ESPAÑA in Spanish

    SPAIN in English

    ESPAGNE in French

    SPAGNA in Italian

    SPANIEN in German

    ISPANYA in Turkish

    SPANJE in Dutch

    ESPANHA in Portuguese

but, as You've said, China for example, remains the same in most languages.
