some people are saying that part of the reason biological evolution is different from natural selection is because of genetic mutation. BUT the only way a genetic mutation can become the evolved attribute of a species is through natural selection.

Man, sometimes I wish this website was a forum. most of you people arnt even going to read this.

  1. Biological evolution is the result of natural selection.  Natural selection can take several routes to shape things and includes sexual selection although they are sometimes presented as independent.

  2. Biological evolution is the process. Natural selection is the mechanism.

  3. These two are different things. Biological evolution is due to natural mutations.  Natural selection is a mechanism by which mutant  population is screened and only good mutants ( those who can survive in that particular climate ) are allowed to grow further.

  4. YES.

Natural selection is a part of evolution.  But biological evolution also includes gene flow, mutation, and genetic drift.  Sexual selection is occasionally considered separate from natural selection.

  5. no they are both just as wrong
