Anyone been to the one in pacifica, california? My main question is: what are their rental rates for boards, wetsuits, etc?

Are they a pretty good shop to rent from? I have heard there are others that have "less attitude". Also, how are the waves at linda mar for beginners? any advice or info is appreciated!

  1. I highly recommend you do not rent a board. Your not going to learn how to surf in one day, and its a waste of money.

when I first learned, i bought my board for $450, but it was well worth buying.

Once you buy it, you will have it for a long time, and you can practice surfing as many times as you want without having to pay $30-$40 per day to rent it!

  2. Linda Mar is the best beginner spot in the SF area for beginners.

Cowells (down in Santa Cruz) is the best spot in the south bay area for beginners.

At Linda Mar, go to NorCal or Sonlight surf shops or head to the Log Shop.  They're all right there close to the beach (just south of the Taco Bell).  They can hook you up ASAP with boards, suits and lessons (recommended for first and second-timers) and they're friendly.

As to rates I have no clue, but I'd assume a suit is $10/day, a board is $20/day and lessons are probably $50/hour.

    Have fun.
