Are off licences actually better than supermarkets for booze? why?

I know in OH the supermarkets couldn't carry anything with an ABV higher than 40%. If you wanted a 151 or something you need to go to the off license stores.

Off licences have trained staff working in them. Supermarkets have check-out girls. Spot the difference !

I personally don't think so. Too many off licences seem to sell extremely cheap booze with lots of alcohol and very little flavour. I guess this is good if you want to get drunk cheaply. I prefer my alcohol to taste of something rather than being surgical spirit!
