Is it legal to install an older woodstove that wasn't built during modern EPA guidelines? What is the best way to go?

  1. The older ones are not necessarily better. You almost have to see it burning to see if it does not have any obvious leaks or warped doors.Everything has a life span and a stove is usually used hard if at all. If I could afford it I would always get a new one. It is after all a home appliance that has the capacity to burn the place down.

  2. The newer stoves are more efficient than the old ones so they do a better job heating your house.  Google "wood stove efficiency" to see a lot of good information on this subject.  Research it a bit, then make your decision.
