  1. I am a hiring manager at a large global financial firm.  The jobs that I hire for require a college degree and we would NEVER accept an online degree in place of a traditional degree.

Don't confuse accredited colleges and universities that offer online classes with online universities (Phoenix etc.)

Your kidding yourself if you think that they are the same thing.

Start at night at a local community college.

  2. defo take ;loadsa classes online when they grow up and  move you can go to college with all theses degrees and itl be much easier

or just keep online counterparts and roll wit it

  3. yes and no.. depends on how authentic the degree is.. do a lot of research before u start

  4. No.  Go to your local state university and get on their on-line program.  I wouldn't hire a graduate from an on line university.

  5. you'll hear that they arent as good as a traditional university, but as far as i'm concerned (and the company that i work for), a degree is a degree. i'm doing mine online right now. good luck to you.

  6. I dont know about schools that are only online, but I've taken a few online courses to lessen my commute to college. They're convenient- especially if you need to be home for your kids. But you need to have a lot of motivation because there is no one there to tell you to do your work. You need to have regular access to a computer and you need to make the effort to log in, get all of your work done. It's a little lonely too...I prefer being in class to interact with other people. But yes, it can be convenient.

  7. Yes, if you have the time and discipline to do the work. The only thing is that most online universities are private, and therefore expensive.

I suggest checking if your local community college has classes you can take online. My local community college also has a day care for students with children. They charge a flat fee for so many hours per week (while you're in class) per semester.

If a private university is what you're looking for, get ready to fork out some serious cash or brace yourself for the student loan bill when you graduate.

    Good luck to you.

  8. I think it is.

  9. I a a full-time student @ Phoenix.  I have been very pleased with my overall experience although there are many things that do not compare to a brick and mortar school.  The nice thing is I can get help immediately through e-mail in my on line class through my instructor or a fellow classmate if I have a question.  There are some tough sacrifices, though.  I think on line classes are a bit tougher.  The work has to be harder I think so others know you really worked for it.  Also you have to be your own time manager, and do it well.  I sometimes struggle with this on.  It is more expensive than your typical college.  Unlike books you would purchase and keep for reference later, you pay for your books and they are on line only.  I would NEVER recommend a class on line that will be super tough for you personally.  For example, Algebra II is awful.  I need a person.  The instructor tried, my brain would not take it just verbally.  I will take this at our local college.  To make matters worse, unlike a brick and mortar school they won't let you change a course even after only a day or so, you're stuck.  Sink or swim.  That's the absolute worst of it, otherwise it nice to go to school in your pajamas!

  10. I am actually an Admissions Advisor at Kaplan University which is an Online University. This school is regionally Accredited. If you look up any job postings you will see that they are looking for you to possess a degree from an Accredited school. There are two different types of Accreditation which is regionally and nationally accredited. As long as the school hold this type of Accreditation you are good with your degree. There is also an website where you can compare colleges and the site is www.chea.org. This site will allow you to look up any college and their accreditation. If you have any more questions about going to school online you can email me tiimekaa@yahoo.com. I am here to help anybody that is looking to further their education and change their life.

    Good Luck!!!

    Hope this helps out!!

  14. I think you will find that online programs are growing both in the number of colleges that offer them - most schools you can think of now offer online programs because the advantages they offer students and the school - but also in acceptance by potential employers. I would just make sure that any school you look at is accredited and that you explore a large number of options to find the best fit. The beauty of taking classes online is that your options are not limited by geography. This site has good information on regionally accredited colleges and has some that you should contact to see if they might work for you. Best of luck!

  15. No you will NOT get the job you deserve with an on line university degree or you will have a difficult time getting a job.

Companies do not want on line degree. It is even better to go to a community college then later upgrade to your local state university if money is the issue here

  16. Not really, not for good paying jobs.  If you read most job postings they require a degree from an "accredited college".  Online universities for the most part are not considered accredited colleges.

  17. Yes, i think it's a splendid idea especially on your part wherein you have children and finances to take care of. The time and effort is much less demanding than that of going away to college when one is in a situation like yours. Many sites are available online with plenty of courses to choose from. It's a booming industry in my opinion, so go on, don't be afraid to try it :) 'luck! :)
