Question:

Are online virus scans safe?

I just downloaded a "codec" so I could watch a certain movie and I opened the exe file.

But then it.. changed my desktop background and had a picture of "Virus detected!" ect. I don't know why it did that!

Now I'm worried that I DO have a virus and need to do a scan. I'm using "Kaspersky" but its too slow.

Which is a safe and quick online scan?

  1. It's safe to use an online anti-virus scanner. BitDefender and TrendMicro are two of the best that will allow you to clean or remove the virus.

Kaspersky is the best anti-virus, if it's slowing your system, get NOD32 which is what I use. It's much more light-weight on your system and just as good.
