Question:

Are orders for the Army usually on ASK before the soldier gets them or does it vary?

I posted a question about orders a few days ago. My husband is at AIT right now. He MOSQ'd on Tuesday and still doesn't have his orders. I've been checking ASK every single day for like the last 6 weeks and it always says "no data available". But just because his orders aren't on there this morning, doesn't mean he won't get them today right???? Or wrong?

  1. Well being in AIT it might be different but being at your duty station. Usually you once you come down on an assignment it pops on AKO. Never printed orders from there it's just like hey you your going to here, go get your orders. So the question is kind of hard to answer I'm not even sure if ASK prints out the orders. I know it tells you where you are going if that is what you wondering? If so than like I would say a few weeks out from him leaving max 3 if there is no answer yet I would question it. But it's AIT so its not like Perscom really cares to much on rushing info to soldiers that are brand new to the army.

  2. I'm not sure what ASK is, but I know that my next set of orders are dated in mid-August and I got an email warning me about them at the end of May. Then again my situation is a little different. His orders are more...Unexpected. Coming from AIT, your orders are either there are they aren't.

  3. His orders will show in his face sometimes before ASK. Even there it might vague  with just the post or area he is going. Things change, including he might try to switch the assignment. He will get orders but HRC (Human Resource Center) in D.C. will sometimes, due to the numbers of folks they deal with, might not have them till his last week or two. He needs to ask his AIT cadre daily what the deal is.

So just relax and everything will work its self out. Have some idea where guys want to go  or do in case he gets a choice.

  4. Yes. My husband just talked to DA to get on assignmetn when he returns from Iraq. It just showed up in ASK, and we should get the email in AKO in a few days. YOu won't get orders until much later down the road.
