Are oscars good pets?

Question

1. are they easy to keep if kept in the right sized aquarium

2. i was thinking about dividing a large 100 gallon aquarium in two how much space should 1 oscar have on his side. taking into account the other side will have community fish and the filter and heater can filter both sides

3. what tricks can they do and how do you train them

YES they can be good pets and often learn to recognize their owners and interact with them. They are one of the few cichlids that has really BIG personality.

I wouldn't divide a tank into two.  The Oscar would be wanting to eat the other fish.  For that reason I would say no to the Oscar.  If you are talking about a few oscars in the tank I would say yes.

my parents had one and my dad trained it to jump out of the tank to get its food. How cool is that!!!
